Day 1 Kota Kinabalu / Kota Belud / Matunggung (L/D)
Meet at hotel lobby and drive overland to Matunggung District through scenic countryside to Mompilis village and experience the local culture as you witness the Rungus tribe doing their daily chores. Thereafter proceed to Bavanggazo village and check in. After lunch, you are free to explore the surrounding longhouse before heading to Sumangkap and Gomizau villages to learn some of the cottage industry mooted by the government to enhance the Rungus tribe livelihood. Return to the longhouse in the late afternoon for shower, then dine on the traditionally prepared cuisine accompanied by locally brewed rice wine while you are entertained with cultural performances.
Day 2 Matunggung / Kinabalu Park (B/L/D)
Wake up to the call of a rooster and enjoy the serenity of the surrounding longhouse. Begin your day with a traditional Rungus breakfast of steam farm produce such as sweet potatoes and tapioca with tea or coffee. Then check out and continue your journey to Kinabalu Park over the ridges of Crocker Range with majestic views of Mount Kinabalu if weather permits. On arrival, proceed to explore the mountain forest as you follow one of the many jungle trails in search for endemic floras and faunas including medicinal plants. After lunch, proceed to the exhibition hall to learn more about Malaysia's 1st World Heritage Site and check in to your accommodation. For the rest of the day, you are at leisure.
Day 3 Kinabalu Park / Poring Hot Spring / Kota Kinabalu (B/L)
After breakfast, check out and transfer to Poring hot spring. Begin to explore the tropical rainforest as you follow one of the many jungle trails that lead up to the canopy walkway, 42m above the forest floor. Experience balancing your way across a 157m long walkway system before dipping into the hot spring pool, believes to have therapeutic benefits for skin care. After lunch, return to Kota Kinabalu.
