Situated about 35 nautical miles southwest of Kota Kinabalu coast, near a small town of Kuala Penyu. A short walk in the tropical rainforest will bring you to the mud volcano, well-known for its therapeutic and beautifying benefits to the skin. It is believed that the island was formed by an eruption of several mud volcanoes which built up the island to its present height of approx. 100m above sea level. Several species of mammals, numerous birds, a variety of reptiles, amphibians and more than one hundred species of insects can be found on Pulau Tiga (aka Tiga Island). Pulau Tiga was also the site of the filming of the US- CBS TV series "Survivor". One can also visit the many dive sites including some unexplored dive locations around the island, where there is a rich marine life.
Day 01 Kota Kinabalu / Kuala Penyu / Pulau Tiga (L/D)
Meet at hotel lobby and begin the 2 hour drive overland to the southwest coast of Sabah through scenic countryside to reach Kuala Penyu town. Proceed to the jetty and continue for another 45 minute boat ride to the island. On arrival, greet and check-in to your accommodation. For the rest of the day, you are free to explore the island including the nearby mud volcano.
Day 02 Pulau Tiga / Kuala Penyu / Kota Kinabalu (B/L)
After breakfast, you are free to do your own activities i.e. snorkelling, swimming, sunbathing, scuba diving or strolling along the white sandy beaches. Check out in the mid afternoon, boat ride to mainland and then return overland to Kota Kinabalu
