Overview:
Depart from hotel and drive about 1 hour through scenic countryside over the ridges of Crocker Range to reach Tambunan Rafflesia Centre (60km). Visit the Rafflesia Information Centre, 1200m above sea level and follow jungle trails in the cool mountain atmosphere in search for rafflesia, the biggest flower in the world. Lunch at a local restaurant and a chance to visit a bamboo village for an insight into the livelihood of this rural area. Return to Kota Kinabalu in the mid-afternoon. Rafflesia may not always be in bloom when you visit but there is usually a 70% chance of sighting (you have to refer to Rafflesia information Centre itself to check for the blooming period).
